Access to early childhood education (ECE) is vital to fostering prosperous communities, families, and economies. The importance of providing quality education for our youngest learners is indisputable, yet the ECE sector continues to experience underinvestment and staffing shortages. It is in this critical moment that PACE is pleased to support the launch of TEACH-LA, an innovative workforce development business designed to grow the ECE workforce of Los Angeles County and provide a living wage career path for aspiring educators.

Funded by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, TEACH-LA provides career entry and a pathway for low-income individuals to enter the education industry by preparing educators to teach and nurture children aged 18 months to 4 years. TEACH-LA not only employs but provides teacher assignment services for licensed and credentialed full-time and substitute teachers, teacher assistants, and other classroom positions in preschools throughout Los Angeles County.

To better invest in the success of program participants, TEACH-LA provides a unique “Earn & Learn” curriculum and a supportive network of partners, mentors, and educational opportunities. TEACH-LA partners with local community colleges and institutes of higher learning to provide classes tailored to meet the requirements for obtaining a teacher permit. Not only do participants receive a competitive salary while gaining on-the-job work experience at partner childcare centers, they also have access to a dedicated team of mentors and advisors to provide personalized guidance and support. In providing a supportive and comprehensive educational foundation, TEACH-LA helps aspiring teachers jumpstart their ECE careers while advancing their skills and unlocking new career paths.

By investing in the future of early childhood education, TEACH-LA empowers the next cohort of ECE educators while supporting a brighter future for the young learners of Los Angeles County.
