PACE’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is committed to increasing the number of low-income families and individuals who claim the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and receive their full income tax refunds. Unfortunately, many of the eligible low-income families in our communities do not know that the tax credit exists or are using paid tax preparers to claim the credit. PACE’s VITA program offers FREE income tax preparation services, provides asset development materials, and pre-screens clients for public benefits eligibility.

The VITA Program generally offers free tax help to individuals who make $53,000 per year or less and need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. PACE’s volunteer income tax preparers can inform taxpayers about special tax credits for which they may qualify such as Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit, and Credit for the Elderly or the Disabled.
