BusinessSource Center Celebrates a New Beginning

PACE, in conjunction with the City of LA and the CDD, announced the opening of its BusinessSource Center on February 9, 2012. The new center is one of six BusinessSource centers that are reopening across the Los Angeles region which is home to 325,000 small businesses. The centers aim to better serve the small business owners and entrepreneurs in its communities by giving them the tools they need to succeed.
“With small wallets we can create volume, which in turn will expand our economy,” said Los Angeles City Councilman Ed Reyes, who was at the event. As we look to the future, the success of small businesses will help grow the economy through job expansion. The diverse ethnicities represented in Los Angeles will create an extraordinary array of businesses to serve our community. The centers are funded by the Community Development Block Grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
CDD General Manager Richard Benbow explains that the LA Business Source Centers will use a “cost-efficient and program effective model to substantially increase the availability and array of business services in Los Angeles”. The system will allow small business to “grow and remain competitive within the City of Los Angeles and it will provide support for startup ventures to launch viable businesses.
The LA BusinessSource Centers are located in various areas of the city with the PACE center covering the Central/West Region. Kerry Doi, PACE’s CEO, prides his multi-lingual staff that has “a solid record of helping small businesses and entrepreneurs succeed”. Los Angeles houses “many cultures and people looking to start a business” and the staff at PACE is exceptionally well suited to aid ethnic minority small business owners and entrepreneurs in achieving their business dreams within the community.
